Bridge is a partnership game, revolving around good communication (especially during the auction and defensive play phases) and of course skill.
I have played bridge for more than 15 years, shifting from 'live' bridge (through VBL) to online bridge (through OKbridge), because of the latter's more practical nature. I have always played duplicate bridge (i.e. each board is played at different tables, so one basically has to perform better than other pairs sitting in the same direction holding the same cards). This partly eliminates the luck factor.
An excellent Minibridge (= bridge without contract bidding) tutorial (in Dutch) takes less than 2 hours of your time: Bridge voor Kids. Just disregard the 'for kids' notion. The tutorial simply starts from zero, instead of building upon other card games knowledge. A solid full bridge tutorial (from the same author, again in Dutch) takes less than 3 hours of your time: Leer bridgen in 12 lessen !. This tutorial refers to some extra videos towards bidding system basics completion (i.e. additional very strong and weak bids/conventions).
In addition to playing, I liked to study the game by means of Books, magazines (IMP Magazine being the most suitable source for advanced Dutch players), articles, and puzzles from various sources:
